Your Water Softener?
If your unit was installed more than a decade ago, it may be time to replace it. A well-maintained water softener may last 10-15 years.
If you experience any of the following symptoms, you should consider having your system replaced:
If your soap and shampoo don’t bubble like they should and you are using more product than usual, your softener may have lost effectiveness.
If your fabric softener is no longer preventing your clothes from being stiff and scratchy, a faulty water softener system may be to blame.
Does your drinking water taste different? It may be due to increased mineral content.
Does your faucet have a white, crusty buildup around the base? That is a sign that your unit is no longer removing calcium and other minerals like it should.
